AI Dispatch + Maintenance

Stop Losing Jobs to Broken Trucks and Missed Calls

Lockstep keeps your rigs rolling. Automated maintenance alerts, smart driver dispatch, and real-time job routing built for owner-operators running 2 to 20 trucks.

What Lockstep saves you

πŸ”§
41% fewer unplanned breakdowns per quarter
πŸ“ž
3.2 hrs saved per week on dispatch phone calls
πŸ’°
$1,800 average monthly savings on towing and downtime

Running a small fleet should not feel like putting out fires all day

Most dispatchers at small carriers still rely on whiteboards, sticky notes, and gut instinct. That works fine until it does not.

  • πŸ“‹

No single view of driver availability

You call three people to find out who is free. Half the time you get voicemail and the load goes to a competitor.

  • πŸ›»

    Maintenance caught too late

That oil leak gets ignored for two weeks. Then the truck is down for five days in the middle of peak season and you are eating the penalty.

  • πŸ“Š

No data on what is actually profitable

You know which clients are a headache. You do not know which lanes are killing your margins. That guess costs real money.

Truck fleet in yard at dusk

Up and running before lunch

No IT department required. If you can use a smartphone, you can run Lockstep.

1

Connect your vehicles

Plug a GPS dongle into each truck's OBD-II port. We ship them free on the Pro plan. The app picks them up in under three minutes. No wiring, no installer.

2

Add your drivers and lanes

Import your driver list from a spreadsheet or type them in. Tell Lockstep your regular lanes and customer pickup windows. That is the only setup it needs.

3

Let AI handle the rest

Lockstep assigns jobs to available trucks, surfaces maintenance flags before they become breakdowns, and texts your drivers turn-by-turn if they want it.

Everything a small carrier needs, nothing it does not

Built specifically for fleets running 2 to 20 trucks. Not enterprise bloat bolted onto your operation.

Smart Dispatch Board

See all your drivers, trucks, and open jobs on one live screen. Drag to assign, or let the AI suggest the most profitable match based on location and availability.

πŸ””

Predictive Maintenance Alerts

Engine hours, oil life, brake wear, tire pressure. Lockstep reads the OBD data and flags issues days before they sideline a truck, with a plain-English explanation of urgency.

πŸ“

Real-Time GPS Tracking

Know exactly where every truck is, how fast it is going, and whether the driver has gone off-route. Customers can get a live ETA link texted to them automatically.

πŸ“ž

Automated Driver Communication

New load notifications, pickup reminders, and delivery confirmations sent to your drivers via SMS. No group text, no phone tag, no missed messages.

πŸ“ˆ

Profitability Reporting

See which lanes make money and which ones bleed it. Revenue per mile, cost per driver, fuel efficiency by truck. Finally, real numbers to negotiate rates.

πŸ—‚οΈ

Digital Load Documents

Drivers photograph the BOL at pickup and delivery. Files are attached to the load record automatically. Stop chasing paper in the cab at end of month.

Truck driver reviewing route on phone

Designed with input from owner-operators, not software consultants

We spent six months riding along with small fleet owners before writing a single line of code. Here is what they told us they actually needed.

  • +
Works offline in dead-signal areas. Syncs when the truck hits coverage.
  • +
Drivers do not need to download anything. SMS-based for older phones.
  • +
FMCSA compliant HOS tracking built in, not sold as an add-on.
  • +
Integrates with QuickBooks, Samsara, and most major TMS platforms via CSV export.
  • +
Phone support staffed by people who know what a lumper fee is.

What fleet owners are saying

★★★★★

"I run six reefers between Chicago and Memphis. Before Lockstep I was losing maybe one load a month to missed check calls or a truck being somewhere I thought it was not. That stopped immediately."

★★★★★

"The maintenance alerts alone paid for the subscription twice over in the first quarter. Caught a bad water pump on my Peterbilt before it stranded the driver in Nevada. That would have been a $4,000 bill."

Donna K.

Fleet Manager, 11 trucks, Texas
★★★★★

"I finally have real numbers on which customers are actually profitable. Dropped two accounts I thought were good and my net margin went up 18%. That is not a Lockstep claim -- that is my QuickBooks."

Straight answers, no runaround

Do my drivers need a smartphone?

No. Driver notifications go out via standard SMS, so any phone that can receive a text message works. For optional turn-by-turn routing, we recommend a basic Android. We have a list of budget models under $80 that work perfectly.

How long does setup take?

Most carriers are fully live within two hours. The GPS dongles take about three minutes per truck to activate once you plug them in. Driver onboarding requires zero training -- they just receive texts like they always have, and the dispatcher view takes about 20 minutes to learn.

What happens if there is no cell coverage on a route?

The mobile app caches data locally and syncs the moment the truck hits coverage again. GPS coordinates are still recorded on the device during blackout zones and uploaded automatically. You will not have gaps in your tracking data.

Can I import my existing load history?

Yes. We accept CSV exports from most common TMS platforms and from QuickBooks. Our onboarding team will help you map the columns if your format is non-standard. Historic data import is included in all plans.

Is Lockstep FMCSA compliant?

Yes. Hours of Service tracking meets current FMCSA ELD mandate requirements. We generate compliant logs that your drivers can share during roadside inspections via the app or printout. We update the platform whenever FMCSA publishes rule changes.

What if I want to cancel?

Cancel anytime from your account settings with no penalty. You keep access through the end of your billing period. Your data is available for export for 90 days after cancellation, and then it is deleted from our servers. No contracts, no early termination fees.
