Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the FMCSA Authority Insurance Feed

Product & Data

What exactly is included in the feed?

Each daily alert includes newly registered FMCSA truck authorities flagged for reaching their 60-day insurance-proof deadline. For each authority, you get:

  • MC authority number and registration date
  • Business name and official operating address
  • Verified phone and email contact
  • Fleet size (number of units authorized)
  • Cargo type authorization (dry van, hazmat, etc.)
  • Days remaining until insurance proof is due
  • Jurisdictions of operation

How fresh is the data?

The feed is updated daily at 6 AM PT. FMCSA authority filings are processed within 24 hours of registration, so you reach prospects the same day they become eligible for outreach.

What states are covered?

All 50 states plus territories. No geographic filtering - every new authority nationwide is included in your daily digest.

Can I filter by specific criteria?

Yes. You can filter by carrier type (new single-truck operators, established fleets, specific cargo classes), jurisdiction, and fleet size. Custom filters are available at the Professional tier and above.

What's the accuracy rate on contact information?

Phone and email are verified through direct matching against FMCSA filed documents and secondary business registries. Contact accuracy is 94% on first attempt, with a 7-day backfill window for corrections.

Access & Integration

How do I access the feed?

You have two options:

  • Email Digest: Daily summary emailed by 6:30 AM PT. Click to export to CSV.
  • API Access: REST endpoint to pull raw data and integrate directly into your CRM or sales automation platform.

Is there an API?

Yes. Professional and Enterprise tiers get API access with webhooks for real-time alerts. Rate limit: 1,000 requests/day. Response time: <200ms. Full API documentation is included in your onboarding package.

What systems can I connect to?

Native integrations with Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive, and Microsoft Dynamics. For other CRMs, use the API or CSV export. Zapier integration is available for automated workflows.

How long does setup take?

Email digest: 5 minutes (sign up, confirm, start receiving). API integration: 30-60 minutes with our integration guide, or 2 hours with white-glove onboarding (included with Enterprise).

Do you offer training or onboarding?

Support & Compliance

How do I get support?

Email: support@fmcsafeed.com (24-hour response). Chat: available Mon-Fri 8 AM-6 PM PT. Phone: Professional and Enterprise subscribers only, 8 AM-6 PM PT.

Is my data secure?

All data in transit is encrypted (TLS 1.3). FMCSA data itself is public record. Your contact details and account are secured with SOC 2 Type II compliance and regular penetration testing.

Can I use this data for telemarketing or SMS?

All contacts are pre-qualified for outreach via phone and email under FMCSA public-record use. SMS is permitted if you comply with TCPA requirements. We provide TCPA guidance in your onboarding docs.

Is FMCSA data really public?

Yes. FMCSA publishes authority registrations as a matter of public record. We aggregate and deliver it; we do not create or modify the underlying data.

What if an authority is no longer valid?

We monitor status changes daily. If an authority is revoked or has already filed insurance proof, we flag it in your digest so you don't waste time on invalid prospects.
