Product Brief · v1

Professional contracts in seconds.

Inkwell generates legally sound service agreements, NDAs, and SOWs for freelancers, consultants, and small agencies in under 60 seconds. Plain English, attorney-reviewed templates, e-signature ready, with a built-in plain-English explanation for the client.

Who it is for

Independent freelancers, consultants, designers, developers, and small creative or technical agencies (1 to 10 people) who close $5,000 to $50,000 engagements and currently use a friend's borrowed Word template, a free LegalZoom outline, or a copy-pasted contract from 2019.

The problem

The freelancer or small agency closes a deal on a Friday. The client wants to start Monday. The contract is a Frankenstein document the freelancer copy-pasted from a previous engagement, with at least three clauses that no longer apply, two missing protections, and one ambiguous payment term that will become a fight in week six.

The lawyer fee for a custom contract is $400 to $1,200, takes 5 to 10 business days, and is not actually warranted at this engagement size. The freelancer ships the broken contract, eats the risk, and learns about the gap when the client disputes the deliverable.

Pricing band

$29 / mo
Solo. Unlimited contracts. E-signature. All 50+ templates.

Agency tier $79/mo (up to 10 seats). Discount for: paid annual (15%), industry-association partnerships, design-partner agencies in a new vertical (50% off for 6 months in exchange for case study). Walk away from anyone trying to negotiate below $19.

Why now

The freelance and small-agency economy doubled between 2020 and 2025. Independent professionals are closing larger engagements, and the legal-template gap has gotten worse not better. AI document generation finally produces contracts that an attorney would actually sign off on, at a price point a $40K/yr freelancer can afford.
