The three new signups are clean: two freelancers in Australia, one small marketing firm out of Portland. None flagged by the system as high-risk or suspicious. I move on.
Below that, I see three agent-generated emails sitting in the "Review & Approve" queue. These are payment reminders the AI drafted overnight for customers who have invoices 15+ days past due. I click into the first one.
The email is addressed to Carol Reyes at Reyes Family Practice. Her practice hired a marketing consultant who's owed $3,200 and keeps avoiding the payment conversation. The AI's email is clean, professional, not pushy. It says: "Hi Carol, we noticed that Invoice #2847 is now 18 days overdue. We know cash flow can get complicated. Would you prefer to set up a payment plan, or should we reach out to your practice manager." It's not mean. It's just factual and offers an exit ramp. I approve it.
Two more like this. A dental office owner, a contractor with a slow-paying GC. I skim them both. Both solid. Approve, approve. I hit the batch-send button and the system queues them for 2 PM delivery - the sweet spot for opening rates.
10:15 AM - The flagged conflict
My Slack pings. The system's sent me a conflict alert. One of yesterday's customer success emails from the AI got marked as spam by Derek Hoffman at Hoffman & Associates. But Derek actually uses the product. He's not really a spam complaint - he's just annoyed. The system flagged it anyway.

6:18 PM - The close
I open my calendar and see nothing left. Seven new signups this week, four of them still in the trial period. Two churn. Seven upsells to the $79 tier. One manual bug fix. Two escalations handled. One referral door opened.
I close the Stripe dashboard, shut down the admin panel, and put the laptop to sleep. Tomorrow there will be new payments to reconcile, new emails to approve, another customer probably asking how to integrate Collect AI with their existing CRM.
The truth is, it's a lot of attention. This isn't passive income. This is me, six hours a day, five days a week, sitting at this desk keeping the system running smoothly, fixing the parts the AI doesn't quite get right, reading the customer emails that matter, making sure the trust stays there. The AI does the heavy lifting - the drafting, the scoring, the flagging - but I'm the one who decides what gets sent and what stays in draft. I'm the one who answers Derek Hoffman. I'm the one who catches the bug before 10,000 emails go out with the wrong date.
Is it worth it. Yes. The $200 I spent on the engine is going to be back in my pocket by month four. The freedom to run this solo, on my terms, is worth more than a salary. But it's also work. Real, specific, daily work. And that's the part that matters to know before you press buy.
