# Dana Khoury, Owner at Khoury Digital — read of Upsell AI, May 10 2026

> 11 years running a Shopify-focused agency, currently 6 people, about $380K in services revenue. We've white-labeled three apps before. One of them actually worked.

## How I got here

Someone dropped this link in the Shopify Partners Slack I'm in. Just pasted it, no comment, no context. That's actually how I end up on the more interesting things -- no pitch, just a URL. I clicked it on my lunch break while waiting for a sandwich at the counter.

## What I clicked first

The hero stat -- "12-18% higher revenue per order in 30 days" -- pulled me in for exactly one second before I started looking for a footnote. There isn't one. Then I noticed the "Unlock the dossier" button for $5 right next to "Watch the 30-second explainer" and that's when I realized I had no idea what I was buying. Is this a Shopify app? A course? A white-label product? I scrolled down to figure out what this actually is.

## Where I paused

The Fermi math block. "Year-1 ARR mid-case around $144K (estimate). Investment to production around $37K. probability of meaningful success around 13%." That stopped me. I've never seen a product page voluntarily say "13% chance this works." That's either the most honest thing I've read on a landing page in years, or it's a very clever way to seem credible without actually being accountable for anything. I sat with that for a while.

The line "Estimates only, no live customer revenue claimed" at the bottom is also doing a lot of heavy lifting. It's a disclaimer that protects them, but it's also more transparent than most founders are willing to be.

## What I distrusted

The "12-18% higher revenue per order" claim at the top directly contradicts the "no live customer revenue claimed" at the bottom. One of those is a marketing hook. The other is a legal CYA. They both can't be true at the same time. If I had to guess, the 12-18% number is either made up, pulled from a competitor's case study, or extrapolated from the Fermi estimates they keep referencing. I'd want to know which.

Also: "Built by Wishdeal Studio" with no further context. Who is Wishdeal Studio? How many of these have shipped? How many generated the projected ARR? The page mentions comparing to "Nurture AI" and "Forecast AI" and "WebinarAI" which suggests this is a catalog of ideas, not a track record of shipped products. That changes the read significantly.

The "Who this is NOT for: Pure consumer apps, anyone needing custom enterprise contracts, hardware-first products" section is weirdly broad and also slightly random. Feels like it was generated to sound specific without actually being specific.

## What would convince me

One shipped example. Not a financial projection -- an actual operator who adopted a Wishdeal Studio dossier, built it, launched it, and has 90 days of real data. Even disappointing data with honest commentary would be more convincing than "mid-case around $144K." I don't need it to be a success story. I need proof that the dossier-to-product pipeline is real and that someone has actually walked it.

Also: what does the $99 code starter actually look like? Is it a Shopify app scaffold? A Next.js boilerplate? A no-code template? "Working code starter" covers enormous ground.

## What I'd ask in an email reply

1. Of the ideas in your catalog, how many have been adopted, and what does the typical outcome look like 6 months post-launch? Even rough and anonymized is fine.

2. The 12-18% revenue lift stat in the hero -- where does that come from specifically? Is that from stores that used this product, or is it pulled from upsell benchmarks generally?

3. For the $99 adopt tier, what does the code starter actually run on? I need to know if it's something I could hand to a developer on my team or if it assumes a specific stack.

## Verdict: on-the-fence

The unusual honesty -- the 13% success probability, the "no live customer revenue claimed" disclaimer, the Fermi math shown in the open -- is genuinely different from what I usually see, and I respect it. But the core confusion of "is this an app I use, or an idea I build" takes too long to resolve, and the hero stat and the disclaimer contradict each other in a way I can't ignore.
