# Petra Sundstrom, Owner at Cascade Sea Kayaking — read of Tour AI, May 10 2026

> 11 years running multi-day kayak tours out of Anacortes, WA. 6 guides at peak season, about 190 tours per year. I handle all ops myself with one part-time admin.

## How I got here

Googled "automate waiver reminders fareharbor" on my phone at 10:30 PM last Wednesday because I'd just spent 45 minutes texting three guests who still hadn't signed before a 6 AM departure. Clicked a few Reddit threads first, nothing useful. This came up on page two. Not an ad, just organic. Figured I'd skim it.

## What I clicked first

The hero pulled me in before I even consciously decided to read it. "Booking requests arrive scattered across email, texts, FareHarbor, Rezdy, and direct messages." That list is accurate. It's my actual life. Someone clearly talked to operators before writing it, or at minimum read enough complaints to reverse-engineer the pain. That sentence bought them two more minutes of my attention.

## Where I paused

Section 04, the waiver and pre-trip automation bit. "You open the morning of a tour knowing paperwork is complete across the entire group." I read that sentence twice. Not because I believed it immediately but because that exact scenario, the morning-of scramble, is the one thing that makes me dread Sundays. If this is real, it's worth the price of two months just to test it.

The "14 days out, reminders at 7 days and 48 hours" cadence is also specific in a way that signals somebody thought about tour operations specifically, not just generic form automation.

## What I distrusted

The testimonial. "Adventure tour operator, Pacific Northwest -- 4 guides, 280 tours per season." No name. No company. No photo. That is the exact format a SaaS company uses when they wrote the testimonial themselves or when the real person asked not to be identified. I can't call anyone. I can't look them up. And "40 percent revenue growth without hiring anyone" is a number that would require a lot of other things to be true beyond just Tour AI working well.

Also: "94% booking confirmation rate." Confirmation rate compared to what? Their own baseline before using Tour AI? Industry average? I have no idea what denominator is being used here and neither does anyone reading this page.

The stat "12 hrs saved per week on average" has the same problem. Average across how many operators? If it's seven beta users all running high-volume city walking tours, that number means nothing for a multi-day kayak operation where a single booking involves ten back-and-forths minimum.

## What would convince me

One operator I can actually call. Not "available upon request" buried in a footer, one name and phone number in the testimonial section with a note that says "Maria will talk to you for 15 minutes if you ask." That is the version of social proof that actually moves me.

Also: a real example of how the AI handles a hard inquiry. Not a generic "your guide will meet you at the dock" answer. Show me a screenshot of it handling "we have a guest with a severe shellfish allergy, two adults who are 68 years old, and one person who has never been in a kayak. Is the 3-day San Juan trip appropriate for them?" That is the inquiry I get. If Tour AI handles that well, I am calling them the next morning.

## What I'd ask in an email reply

1. What happens when the AI gets something factually wrong about my cancellation policy and a guest relies on it to make a decision? Is there any liability language in the contract about that, and what's the escalation path?

2. The Solo plan says 300 automated messages per month. I have roughly 190 tours per year, each with an average group of 4. That's 760 guests, plus inquiry responses that don't convert, plus reminders. How does that math work without hitting the cap by mid-July?

3. Can I see the actual output from the 20-question setup wizard for a real operator before I start? I want to know if the "brand voice" result looks like my emails or like a hotel chatbot.

## Verdict: on-the-fence

The page is better than 90 percent of what I read in this category. Someone understands the actual operational texture of running tours. But the missing proof and the anonymous testimonial keep me from booking a demo yet. I'd click a "talk to a current customer" button if it existed.
