# Renata Sobczak, Owner/Head Stylist at Figura Salon — read of Salon AI, May 6 2026

> 11 years behind the chair, 6 as owner. 5 stylists, 3 booth renters. Columbus, OH. Running Vagaro, Square for retail, and one Google Sheet that I am not proud of.

## How I got here

Someone in the Salon Owners Collective Facebook group posted "anyone tried Salon AI?" and had 14 replies in three hours. I read all of them before clicking the link. About half were "it's fine," two were genuinely enthusiastic, and one person said the upsell feature annoyed their clients. That's the one that stuck with me. I Googled it while my kid was at soccer practice Tuesday night, sitting in my car.

## What I clicked first

The stats in the subheader hit immediately: "34% avg. no-show rate drop" and "2.1x rebooking rate lift." I didn't click anything. I just sat with those numbers for a second because if they're real, I want in. My no-show rate last month was brutal. I actually know this because I keep a sticky note on my station, which the page calls out directly: "Most owners track it on a sticky note if they track it at all." That was an uncomfortable sentence to read.

## Where I paused

The Tamara Osei quote stopped me cold: "My receptionist quit in January and I was convinced we had to hire immediately. Three months later, rebooking is actually up." I read that twice. I lost my front desk coordinator eight months ago and have been doing reminders myself during lunch. That quote is describing my exact life. If it's a real person I can look up, that's meaningful. If it's a composite or a fake name, that's a problem.

## What I distrusted

Three things, in order of how much they bothered me.

First: the testimonials have first-name initials for the photos (M, K, D) instead of actual headshots. Maria Delgado, Kira Johansson, Dana Reyes. These are full names. Why no photos? Every real salon owner I know would send a photo if they liked the tool. That detail made me slow down.

Second: "Response rates are consistently strong" under the rebooking nudges section. That's not a number. Every other feature has a number. The chair recovery feature says "22 minutes median recovery time." Why does rebooking nudges get "consistently strong"? That's the feature I care most about.

Third: "2,400+ salons running Salon AI" but there are three testimonials, all with initials. With 2,400 customers you could show ten faces and names I could Google. That gap bothers me.

## What would convince me

I want to see one testimonial from a Vagaro user, because that's my stack. I want to know what "consistently strong" means as a number for rebooking nudges. Even a range: "typically 15 to 30 percent open rate within 48 hours" is enough. And I want a name and city I can look up on Instagram. If Tamara O. Hair Collective in Atlanta has 2,000 followers and she's mentioned Salon AI in a story at some point, I'm a lot closer to trying it. That takes me three minutes to check.

## What I'd ask in an email reply

1. The Vagaro integration: does it read appointment notes and service names, or just appointment type codes? Because my rebooking nudges would need to say "your balayage" not "your appointment."

2. When a client replies with something real, like "can I move to Thursday?" what actually happens? You say it gets "flagged and sent to you" but where? Text? Email? In-app notification I have to check? I need to know what that workflow looks like on my phone on a busy Saturday.

3. The Facebook group reply about upsell messages annoying clients. What's your churn rate around that feature specifically, and can I turn it off for certain client types?

## Verdict: curious-enough-to-reply

The sticky-note line earned goodwill, the Tamara quote described my actual situation, and the pricing is not offensive. But I need to verify at least one name before I hand over my client list.
