# Kris Delacroix, Owner-Operator at Ridgeline Pet Co. — read of Pet-ai, May 6 2026

> 9 years running a two-location boarding and daycare operation in Boise. Currently on Gingr. Pick up my 8-year-old every day at 3pm, which means I'm dark for 90 minutes right when half the rescheduling texts come in.

## How I got here

Searched "automatic appointment reminders grooming software" last Thursday because I'd just turned away a labradoodle at check-in for an expired Bordetella. Again. The owner was furious. I'd seen ads for PetDesk and Gingr's own reminder features before, but I wanted to know if anything actually handled the back-and-forth texting, not just one-way blasts. Pet-ai came up third or fourth in the results. I clicked it.

## What I clicked first

The hero subheading stopped me: "Your front desk, working at 11pm." That's not abstract. I know exactly what 11pm texts look like because I've answered them from my couch. The line "The phone never stops because you are the only one answering it" is a little on-the-nose but it's accurate and I didn't feel talked down to by it.

The "2.4 hrs saved per day on average" number in the first callout is the kind of stat I'd normally scroll past, but I kept going because the body copy immediately explained *where* that time goes: "confirming bookings, chasing vaccination records, handling rescheduling requests." That specificity bought them 30 more seconds of my attention.

## Where I paused

The vaccination reminder section. Feature 03: "Pet-ai tracks which clients owe updated Bordetella, Rabies, or DHPP records and contacts them proactively. You are never scrambling at check-in again." That's the exact problem I had on Thursday. I read that paragraph twice. If this actually works the way it's described -- not just a one-time reminder blast but ongoing tracking tied to individual client records -- that alone would be worth $79/month to me. The question is whether it pulls from Gingr's existing vaccine data or starts from scratch, and the page doesn't answer that.

## What I distrusted

The testimonials are too clean. Maria from Austin, Derek from Tampa, Jenna from Portland -- fine, they sound like real people. But the quotes are suspiciously complete. "The waitlist feature alone paid for the subscription twice over" is a financial claim with no number attached. Paid for it how fast? Over what period? Derek's "four or five appointments a week" no-show problem is specific enough that I half-believed it, but Maria's "fill rate went up 18 percent in the first month" needs more than a first name and a city. No photo, no business website link, no "here's how to verify this." Pet service owners talk to each other -- I'd want a Google review or a Facebook group post, not a testimonial box.

Also: "Clients never know it is automated." I have mixed feelings about that. Some of my regulars would feel deceived if they found out. The page doesn't acknowledge that tension at all.

## What would convince me

One video of the actual text conversation from a client's perspective. Not a screenshot mockup -- a real scrolling thread showing how Pet-ai handles a cancellation-and-rebook exchange, including what happens when the client asks something unexpected. That's where AI tools usually fall apart and I want to see it before I hand it my Gingr client list.

Also: confirmation that it reads from Gingr's existing vaccination expiration fields rather than requiring me to re-enter that data. If I have to manually import 800 client records to get the vaccine reminders working, the "one afternoon setup" claim falls apart.

## What I'd ask in an email reply

1. When a client texts something Pet-ai can't handle, what exactly does the handoff look like from the client's side -- do they get a response that sounds like a bot punting, or does it feel seamless?

2. For Gingr users specifically, does the vaccine tracking pull from the existing health record fields in Gingr, or do I need to set up a separate tracking database inside Pet-ai?

3. The page says "your number, your brand" -- does that mean my existing business number, or do I get a new number that forwards, and will my current clients see a different sender ID when the texts start?

## Verdict: curious-enough-to-reply

The page actually does what most don't -- it names specific problems, specific integrations, and specific record types (Bordetella, DHPP, not just "vaccination records"). The pricing is visible and the trial has no card required, which removes the main reason I abandon these things. I'd send one email with those three questions before I sign up for the trial, but I'd send it today.
