# Rick Taboada, Owner at Taboada Taqueria (3 locations, Sacramento) — read of QRever, June 21 2026

> 11 years running taquerias. Started with one food truck, now two brick-and-mortar spots and a third opening in August. I handle ops myself and pay someone's nephew 8 hours a week to "do the website stuff."

## How I got here

I was going through my credit card statement at 7am before my first location opens. Noticed I'm paying $12/month for QR Code Generator PRO and my menu hasn't changed in four months. Googled "qr code menu no subscription" and this showed up third. Not an ad. Just clicked it.

## What I clicked first

"Stop paying monthly for a menu." Yeah, that's the thing. I'm paying for three separate QR tools across three locations right now because I didn't think to unify them when I opened the second. The top of this page speaks to exactly the thing I was annoyed about 20 minutes ago. So I kept reading.

## Where I paused

Halfway down there's a section that says "71/100 Adoptability" and "$-4,920 Year-1 take-home (Fermi)" and "1 in 6 Meaningful-success odds." I read that three times. I have no idea what this is. Is this telling ME my restaurant is going to lose $4,920? Is this some kind of evaluation of whether I should open a QR code BUSINESS? Who is this for?

There is a block that says "The dossier maps a realistic path; whether it works is up to you, your taste, and your distribution." I own a taco restaurant. I do not know what "your distribution" means in this context and I am not sure the page knows either.

## What I distrusted

"Honest disclosure: we don't have live customers on this idea yet."

There it is. That sentence killed it for me. I'm looking at a product that claims "Permanent QR code. Works for years without expiring." But the company is disclosing they have no customers. So you want me to be the guinea pig on whether a QR code actually lasts years? My menu goes out to tables. My QR code breaks, I've got 40 people trying to order and nothing to show them.

Also: "analytics included" is listed as a feature but there is zero example of what that looks like. How many scans? Per location? Per day? Per item? "See how many customers scanned your code" is not analytics. That's a counter.

## What would convince me

One screenshot of an actual restaurant's QR menu on a phone. Not a mockup. Not a stock phone with a fake Figma menu on it. An actual photo of a laminated table card at a real place with the QR code printed on it, and the menu that loads on a real device. That's it. That would do a lot.

Also: a number. Not Fermi estimates. A price. What does permanent actually cost? If you're selling "no monthly fee," what's the one-time fee? That is absent from this entire page and it's the main claim.

## What I'd ask in an email reply

1. What happens to my QR code if you shut down? Does the link die? Do I get to export something?
2. Is there a per-location pricing difference, or is it one QR code per purchase? I need three.
3. What's the actual price?

## Verdict: dismissive

"We don't have live customers on this idea yet" is the sentence that ended this for me. I'm not a test case. I need this working on Saturday morning when the brunch rush hits. Come back when someone else has been using it for six months without it breaking.
