# Marcus Tran, Director of Customer Success at Latchel (160 people, Series B) — read of Meeting Notes AI, May 6 2026

> 9 years in CS and account management, currently managing a team of 11 CSMs who live in Zoom calls and somehow still miss action items from every QBR.

## How I got here

I was Googling "automatically track action items from zoom calls" because our CSMs keep losing follow-ups between the call and Notion, and someone always has to write up the recap manually. I've tried Otter, Fireflies, and Grain in the last 18 months. We actually have Gong for sales calls but CS doesn't get seats. Found this page as a result maybe 5 results down. Not an ad. Just an organic result.

## What I clicked first

The subheadline: "AI-powered transcription, intelligent summaries, and automatic action item extraction." That's the combo I'm looking for. The hero problem statement is written like someone actually knows the pain: "Email threads go unanswered. Follow-ups slip through the cracks." Yeah, that's Tuesday for us. I kept reading.

## Where I paused

"Works with Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, Slack, and in-person meetings. No setup required."

In-person meetings. Okay. How? That phrase is doing a lot of work and the page just... moves on. Does it use the phone mic? Is there an app? "No setup required" right next to "in-person meetings" is either a bold claim or sloppy copywriting. I genuinely cannot tell which.

## What I distrusted

"99% accuracy." That number is on every single one of these tools. Otter says it. Fireflies says it. Fathom says it. It means nothing without context: what language, what accent distribution, what audio quality, tested against what benchmark? It's the transcription equivalent of "enterprise-grade."

Also: "40+ other tools your team already uses daily." They list 7. Seven. Slack, Notion, Jira, Google Calendar, Salesforce, Asana... and then "40+." The gap between "here are 7" and "we mean 40" needs bridging or it reads like a padding move.

The section header "Teams That Never Repeat Themselves" shows up as a CTA section and is never explained. What does that even mean for this product? It sounds like it was written for a different product and copy-pasted in.

And at the very bottom: "Built by Wishdeal Studio." That's a strange thing to put on a product homepage. It signals this is more of a studio-built template project than a funded product with a dedicated team. That makes me wonder who I'm actually calling if something breaks.

## What would convince me

One real customer story, not a logo wall, not a generic quote. I mean a CSM at a 50-200 person company explaining exactly how their follow-up rate changed. Number of meetings per week, what they used before, what they use now, what specifically improved. If the product is as good as this page implies, someone has that story and it should be front and center.

And a real explanation of the action item detection. Does it catch "I'll get this to you by Friday" and assign it to me with a Friday deadline? Or does it just pull bullet points from a transcript? Those are completely different things and this page doesn't tell me which one I'm getting.

## What I'd ask in an email reply

1. You mention action items are "automatically assigned to the right person with deadlines and priorities." How does it handle vague commitments like "we should probably loop in finance on this"? Does it assign that or skip it?

2. Who is the typical customer right now, company size and team type? I want to know if this is built for sales calls or for CS / ops / internal meetings, because those are genuinely different use cases.

3. What does the Salesforce integration actually do? Does it write call notes to the activity log automatically, or do I have to push a button?

## Verdict: on-the-fence

The pain section is written well enough that I kept reading, which puts it ahead of most of the noise in this category. But there is nothing on this page that tells me why this one instead of Fireflies or Fathom or the Notion AI meeting recorder I already have. If I got a cold email from the founder with one real customer story and a clear answer to my Salesforce question, I'd probably take a 20-minute call.
