# Marcus Tidwell, VP of Sales at Cornerstone Freight Capital — read of MC Authority Lead Feed, June 10 2026

> Nine years in freight factoring sales, currently managing a six-person outbound team in Kansas City. We factor mostly dry van and flatbed carriers in the midwest, about 180 active clients.

## How I got here

I typed "new MC authority leads freight factoring" into Google last Tuesday because our current lead vendor, Dun & Bradstreet's carrier list, is running about 60% stale on phone numbers. A paid search result came up. I wasn't expecting much. I clicked it between calls.

## What I clicked first

The timing framing in the hero stopped me: "A carrier filing for MC authority has a one-week window: they realize they need cash flow, call whoever picks up first, and decide." That's not marketing copy. That's something someone on a factoring floor actually said out loud at some point. I've watched carriers call three factors in an afternoon and go with whoever called back fastest. The page had me for about two more minutes on that line alone.

## Where I paused

The stat: "8-12 hours. Average time from FMCSA filing to your dialer." If that's real, that's the whole game. Our current process is someone on my team checking FMCSA's website every couple of days and we're lucky to be in front of a new carrier within the week. If this actually delivers a warm number in 8 hours, I don't care about anything else on the page. That number is either the real product or it's a footnoted asterisk waiting to happen.

## What I distrusted

The testimonial. "Jessica M., Regional Manager, Texas Freight Factoring." No last name. No company. "Texas Freight Factoring" is not a company name, it's a category description. "The answer rate is stupid high" reads like someone trying to write how a real person talks. Maybe she's real. But I've seen this exact structure on every SaaS landing page I've looked at in the last three years, and it doesn't move me without a name I can look up.

Then I scrolled to the bottom and saw: "Built by Wishdeal Studio. Resources for this product: LinkedIn Intent Scorer for Insurance. Real Estate Outreach AI." So this isn't a freight factoring tool built by people who live in freight. It's a product studio that spun up a freight vertical alongside an insurance vertical and a real estate vertical. The line "Built by people who understand freight" is directly contradicted by their own footer. That's not a dealbreaker but it changes the question I'd ask.

Also: how is the contact data verified? Phone number and LinkedIn profile "within hours of application" sounds like they're either scraping FMCSA filings and cross-referencing a data provider, or they're building something themselves. I have no idea which. "Verified" is doing a lot of work in "verified business owner phone, email, and LinkedIn profile" and the page never explains what verified means.

## What would convince me

One real customer I can call. Not a testimonial, an actual reference. A freight factor with a real name and a real company willing to say "we've been using this for four months and here's our actual connect rate." I'd also want to see the false positive rate on the financing readiness score. If 40% of the "ready to factor" carriers they send me turn out to be owner-ops who already have a factor or aren't actually starting operations, the score is noise. Show me a cohort: here are 100 carriers we scored high, here's what happened to 60 of them.

## What I'd ask in an email reply

1. The contact data for new carriers comes from where exactly? FMCSA has name and address but not always a direct cell. Are you pulling from a third-party data broker, matching against LinkedIn via some API, or something else? I need to know the sourcing before I put numbers in my dialer.

2. What does your churn look like? If this actually works the way you describe, factors would renew. What's your 12-month retention rate on the $599 and $1,499 tiers?

3. The footer shows this is Wishdeal Studio and you also have insurance and real estate products. Who specifically on your team has worked in freight factoring operations? I'm not saying an outsider can't build this, but "built by people who understand freight" is a claim I'd want to pressure test before I hand you $1,499 a month.

## Verdict: on-the-fence

The core insight about timing is legitimately correct and the delivery mechanism is specific enough that I want to believe it. But the fake-feeling testimonial, the studio footer undercutting the "freight people" claim, and zero explanation of data sourcing leave me needing one honest conversation before I'd try the free week.
