# Marcus Tiburon, Intake Director at Castillo & Reyes Law — read of LawLineAI, 2026-05-11

> 9 years running intake at a PI firm in Houston, currently managing 4 intake coordinators and a Smith.ai subscription that costs more than it should.

## How I got here

Someone in the Legal Ops Professionals Facebook group posted this with the caption "anyone tried this?" No other context. I clicked because we lose probably 2-3 overnight leads a week to voicemail and I know it. I've been looking at this problem for about a year. I've evaluated Smith.ai, Ruby, Answering Legal, and one other AI-specific thing I can't remember the name of. So I came in already knowing the category.

## What I clicked first

"Your phone rings at midnight. A personal injury case. A new arrest. A family in crisis. But your intake team is gone. By morning, they called someone else."

That's my exact problem described in 4 sentences. I kept reading. That opening is good. Not because it's fancy writing, it's because it didn't try to be fancy. It just described the situation.

## Where I paused

The integrations section. "Routes in Real Time. Sends lead data directly to Slack, email, or your case management system (Clio, Rocket Matter, Practice Panther)."

We're on Clio. This would matter a lot. But there's no screenshot of what the integration looks like, no example of what the case report actually contains, no sample output. I know how bad "integration" can mean in practice -- it can mean a Zapier webhook that fires into a Clio custom field nobody looks at. I'd want to see a real Clio record that came from one of these calls before I believed this claim.

## What I distrusted

The bottom half of the page broke the spell completely.

I scrolled down expecting pricing and FAQs, which were fine. Then I hit this section: "Honest disclosure: we don't have live customers on this idea yet." And then: "We shipped the strategy package; you ship the customer conversations."

Wait. So I'm not buying a product. I'm buying a... blueprint? And then the scoring card says "landing page quality: 2/10." The product is literally rating its own landing page a 2 out of 10 on the same page I'm reading.

The pricing tiers above said $499/month for Starter and $999 for Professional. But the section below says "Adopt the build: $99-$199" and "Unlock the dossier: $5." These are not the same product. I genuinely don't know what I'm being sold here. Is this a live SaaS I can sign up for today? A franchise kit? A business-in-a-box? The page never explicitly makes the switch, it just... becomes a different thing after the FAQ.

"Reduces Liability. Every missed call is a potential malpractice exposure." That's also a stretch. Missed calls don't create malpractice exposure in the way described here. If I showed this sentence to one of our partners they'd roll their eyes.

## What would convince me

An actual call recording. Not a demo, not a transcript, an MP3 of the AI handling a real caller who is upset or rambling or has a thick accent. Every AI voice product sounds fine in the demo. They fall apart on a 68-year-old woman calling from a Walmart parking lot after a fender bender.

And clarity on what this actually is right now. If it's a working product with paying customers, show me one. Even one. A firm name, a city, how many calls per month, what changed for their intake team. That would do more than all the copy above the fold.

## What I'd ask in an email reply

1. Is there a live version I can actually sign up for today and forward my after-hours line to, or is this still being built?

2. What does the Clio integration actually write to -- a new Matter, a custom field, a note? Can you show me a screenshot of what the record looks like after a call?

3. The FAQ says "every call is recorded and reviewed by your intake team before any action is taken" -- if my team still reviews every call, how is that different from voicemail plus a transcript? What's the actual time savings?

## Verdict: on-the-fence

The top half of this page described my problem better than most competitors do, and the integrations list is exactly right. But I cannot tell if there is an actual product here or if I'm being asked to go build one. That confusion is a dealbreaker for someone with a real intake problem and a team waiting on a solution next Monday morning.
