## How I got here

Someone in the Indie Hackers Telegram group I'm in dropped a link with no context, just "has anyone tried this?" That's usually how I find things I actually pay attention to. I wasn't searching for a Product Hunt alternative specifically, but I've been burned by PH's current state enough times that I clicked.

## What I clicked first

The headline: "Your indie project deserves more than 4 hours on the homepage." That's a real number, and it's the right number. Everyone who's launched on Product Hunt in the last two years knows that's the window before you get buried. It landed.

Then I saw "Scarcity-Capped Listings: Only 5-10 projects per week means each gets real attention instead of algorithmic burial in a noise-filled feed." That's the pitch in one line. I understood the business model immediately. Okay, you have my attention.

## Where I paused

The scoring section. All of a sudden I'm reading a Wishdeal Factory "Adoptability" score for the product I'm on the page of. That broke my brain a little. Is this product scoring me, is it scoring itself, is this a meta-thing? I read it twice.

Then I landed on: "$-12,900 Year-1 take-home (Fermi)" and "1 in 6 Meaningful-success odds (Fermi)."

That's... on the page for the product they're selling. That's either the most confident move I've ever seen or a serious UX error. The honest disclosure below it says "we don't have live customers on this idea yet." So I'm being asked to pay to list on a platform that has publicly disclosed it loses money in year one and has a 16% success rate. I don't know if I trust them more or less for saying it.

## What I distrusted

"Creator-First Analytics: See referral quality, engagement velocity, and qualified conversions. Not vanity metrics."

This is the paragraph that sounds the most like marketing copy written by someone who read a thread about product positioning. "Engagement velocity" is a vanity metric with a cooler name. What does referral quality actually mean here? Are they tracking signups? Paying customers? Time-on-site from the link? I have no idea. This section tells me nothing.

Also: "Your full week of visibility is locked in from day one. No algorithm decides your fate." I believe the scarcity model. I don't know what "a full week of visibility" means in practice. Is there a homepage? Is there email? What's the audience size? If 500 people a week see this, that's a different product than if 50,000 do. That number is not on the page.

## What would convince me

One screenshot of the actual homepage showing a listed product. Not a mockup. A real URL I can visit right now to see what I'd be buying.

A number: total weekly audience. Even an estimated one. Even a rough one. "We had 4,200 unique visitors last month and here's the traffic source breakdown" would tell me whether this is worth the listing fee. Which, by the way, I still don't know, because pricing is not on the page.

And a real example of someone who listed and what happened. Not a testimonial. An actual outcome. "Maker launched their tool, got 89 clicks from our page, 12 signed up for their paid plan." That's the kind of thing I screenshot and forward.

## What I'd ask in an email reply

1. What's your current weekly audience size, and how did you build it? I need to know if I'm paying to reach 200 people or 20,000.

2. The scoring section says you have no live customers yet. How many projects have actually been listed, and can I see one live example of the homepage in action?

3. What does a listing cost, and is there a refund if the analytics show zero qualified traffic after the week?

## Verdict: on-the-fence

The core idea is solid and the headline earned my attention. But I still don't know the audience size, the price, or what the thing actually looks like when it's live. The self-scoring section is either a bold honesty move or proof that this page wasn't run past a single person who wasn't the founder before it went live.
