# Tony Reyes, Owner-Broker at Reyes Freight Solutions — read of FreightAI, May 10 2026

> "9 years brokering, 6 people in my office in Phoenix, running about 180 loads a month on McLeod. I coach my daughter's U12 soccer team on weekends, which means I actually care about getting out of the office before dark."

## How I got here

Shipper called me Tuesday at 4:40 PM asking where his reefer was, and I had to put him on hold to call the driver. Driver didn't pick up. I called the carrier dispatch. They didn't know either. I Googled "automate carrier check-ins freight broker" that same night and this showed up third result, below a TMS vendor I already use and a Reddit thread from 2022.

## What I clicked first

"Freight brokers spend 10+ minutes per load quoting, digging, and deciding. Freight AI does it in 60 seconds." That's the first specific, checkable claim I've seen on one of these pages in a while. I didn't believe it yet but I kept reading, which is more than I do for most of these.

## Where I paused

The carrier qualification section. "We had a bad actor slip through our manual process last year and it cost us a shipper relationship we had maintained for six years." That's a quote from Lisa R. at Bridgepoint Logistics in Memphis. That sentence is real. Anyone who's brokered for more than two years has a version of that story. The SAFER pull plus insurance verification in real time is exactly what I want, and I know it's technically possible because I've seen similar things demoed at a McLeod user conference. This is the one feature where I thought: okay, that's actually a product.

## What I distrusted

Three things, in order of how much they bothered me.

One: "$12k avg margin recovered/mo." That number is doing a lot of work with zero support. Recovered from what baseline, measured how, averaged across what size operations? I'm on the Pro plan if I buy this thing. 180 loads a month. $12k recovered would mean I've been leaving $144k on the table annually. I don't believe that.

Two: Every testimonial ends in a first name and a last initial. "Marcus T., Independent Freight Broker, Chicago IL." "Lisa R., Co-owner, Bridgepoint Logistics, Memphis TN." No company name for Marcus. No website. I can't Google these people. That's not necessarily fake but it's the exact format AI generates when it makes up reviews, and I've seen enough of that now that I notice it.

Three: "91% carrier check-in rate." 91% of what? Check-ins initiated? Check-ins completed within a time window? Carriers who respond to texts at all? That stat is shaped like a number but doesn't mean anything without context.

## What would convince me

Show me one carrier check-in thread from a real load. Actual SMS screenshots, driver response time, how it handles a non-response. I don't need a demo video where everything works. I need to see what the platform does when the driver doesn't reply in 2 hours, because that's the actual problem.

Also: name one full company in the testimonials. One. With a LinkedIn I can click. "Bridgepoint Logistics, Memphis TN" is specific enough to be findable if it exists. If Lisa R. runs a real brokerage and will take a 10-minute call, I'd pay more attention to everything else on this page.

## What I'd ask in an email reply

1. My TMS is McLeod 2023. You list McLeod as a supported integration. What does that actually mean: full two-way sync, or are you reading CSV exports? If I book a load in McLeod, does FreightAI see it automatically or do I have to push it over?

2. What happens when a carrier your system flags as qualified turns out to have a compliance issue that SAFER hadn't updated yet? Who eats that?

3. The Pro plan is $349 and says "TMS integration (McLeod, Aljex, Tailwind)." Is that included or does integration setup cost extra and this is just saying it's possible?

## Verdict: on-the-fence

The carrier qualification feature is real enough that I'd want a demo, and the pricing is not insane for what they're claiming. But the testimonials without verifiable names and the $12k/mo margin stat make me think this was at least partially written by someone optimizing for conversion rather than honesty. I'd reply to a cold email from these people if it mentioned my TMS by name. I wouldn't fill out the free trial form cold.
