# Marcus Osei, Co-founder & CEO at Stackflo — read of Founder Fundraising AI, May 9 2026

> 9 years in product and engineering, 3 years running a B2B SaaS company doing $280K ARR in construction project management. Currently trying to close a $1.5M pre-seed. 8 people on payroll. 5 months runway left.

## How I got here

Googled "pre-seed fundraising timeline 2025" at 11pm after my eighth unanswered Calendly request to a partner at a fund that had already told me through a warm intro they were "excited about the space." Found this on page two of results. Opened it in a new tab, let it sit for two days, then went back to it when I was procrastinating on updating my deck for the fourth time.

## What I clicked first

"Cut through the noise. Get a fundraising plan that actually works." I almost closed it there. That sentence reads like a tagline someone tested on a whiteboard and called it a day. But I kept going because the next thing says it asks for "current stage, monthly burn, runway, traction metrics, market size, geography" -- and that list is specific enough to make me think maybe there's something real underneath it.

## Where I paused

"Realistic fundraising takes 12-16 weeks." Nobody says that. Every VC blog says "it takes longer than you think" and then gives you nothing useful. Putting a specific range on it made me stop and wonder if whoever built this actually ran a process or just read about one.

## What I distrusted

"AI guidance built by founders and investors." Which founders? Which investors? This is the part where I'd expect a face, a name, a fund name, even a fake-humble credential like "formerly Techstars." There's nothing. Just "Wishdeal Studio" at the bottom, which I've never heard of in any fundraising context.

Also: "Peer learning -- See how other founders at your exact stage navigated fundraising. Real stories, real numbers, real tradeoffs." That's the most interesting feature on the page and there's not a single example of it. Not a quote, not a blurred-out screenshot, not even a hint of what "real numbers" means. That section felt like a promise that the product hasn't built yet.

The "bi-weekly check-ins" also confused me. Check-ins with what? Is it an AI that asks me how my outreach is going? Is there a human? Does my plan actually change based on my answers or does it just add a new bullet point?

## What would convince me

One real founder, named, with a pre-seed or seed story that includes the actual outcome. Not "raised $2M" in a pull quote. I want: stage, burn at the time, how many investor meetings before a term sheet, what the tool told them to do differently, and whether they think it was worth it. I've read too many "X helped us close our round" testimonials that were written by the company's own comms person.

On the investor targeting piece specifically: show me one example of what the output looks like. Even a fake one. "Founders at your stage with $280K ARR, B2B SaaS, construction vertical, pre-seed, targeting $1.5M -- here are the fund types and check sizes that match." If you can give me that in a screenshot, I'm booking a demo.

## What I'd ask in an email reply

1. The page says my plan "adapts as traction changes or market conditions shift" -- what does that mean mechanically? Do I re-run the whole intake, or is there something that tracks my metrics over time?
2. Who actually built the investor targeting layer? Is it a database you maintain, a scrape of Crunchbase, or just pattern-matching against my inputs?
3. What happens when the plan is wrong? I've had advisors give me a "clear fundraising roadmap" that was completely wrong for my geography (I'm based in Minneapolis, not SF). How does this account for that?

## Verdict: on-the-fence

The specificity of the intake questions and the 12-16 week framing earned it more time than I expected to give it. But the page promises "real stories, real numbers" and shows me zero of either, and "built by founders and investors" with no names attached is the oldest trick in startup marketing. I'd fill out the five-minute assessment if it's actually free, but I'm going in expecting to get a generic PDF with my stage swapped in.
