## How I got here

LinkedIn ad hit me mid-morning between two back-to-back staffing calls. I almost scrolled past it but the copy said something about caregivers spending 40 percent of a shift on documentation and I stopped. That number is real. I know it's real because I watch it happen every time I do a floor walk. I bookmarked it and came back after lunch.

## What I clicked first

The stat block at the top: "3.2 hrs saved per caregiver weekly." I wanted to know where that came from before I let myself care about anything else. Most of these tools wave a number at you and there's no source. I scrolled down looking for the footnote and found this: "These figures come from 120 care facilities across 14 states. Average facility size is 68 residents. We publish the methodology on request. Nothing here is extrapolated from a demo environment or estimated from industry benchmarks." That sentence made me sit up a little. Most companies don't write that sentence because they can't write it honestly.

## Where I paused

The Sandra Okafor quote. "We lost two experienced CNAs last year to burnout. Part of it was paperwork. They loved the residents. They hated the binders." That's a real thing a real Director of Nursing would say. The detail that gets me is she named the facility (Cedarwood Senior Living), gave the resident count (84), and named the state (Ohio). That's falsifiable. If I wanted to, I could call around and find Sandra Okafor. A fabricated testimonial doesn't give you that much rope.

## What I distrusted

A few things. "Up and running in one afternoon. No IT department needed." I have heard this from four vendors in the last three years. It has never been true for us. We had a two-week PointClickCare migration that was supposed to take three days. This might be different, but I need to hear that from someone who ran it at a facility with a director who was on vacation for half the week, because that's the real test.

Also: "120+" facilities. That plus sign is doing work. Is it 121 or 800? If you have 800, tell me 800. If it's 123, the plus is covering up that you're still early. Neither is disqualifying but the vagueness reads like someone told the marketing team to be conservative and they split the difference by hedging with a symbol.

The AI care note generation capability is the one place I want clinical accountability language and there isn't any. If the AI drafts a note that's wrong, a caregiver approves it quickly because they're busy, and an inspector finds it, who is liable? That question is not answered anywhere on this page and it's the first thing my DONs are going to ask me.

## What would convince me

I want to see the methodology document before any trial starts. Not on request after I commit, before. If the numbers are solid, show me the document. That's a 10-minute read and it tells me a lot about how seriously they think about evidence.

I also want a reference call with a charge nurse, not a director, not an administrator. A charge nurse at a facility that's been live for at least six months. Someone who does the documentation every day and has no budget stake in the answer. What do they actually think of the note quality? Do they edit every output or does it usually land close?

## What I'd ask in an email reply

1. When a care note is AI-generated and a caregiver approves it without editing, and that note later gets flagged in a state survey, what is your position on facility liability? Do you carry any documentation errors and omissions coverage?

2. I'm running PointClickCare at all four sites. Can I talk to someone at a facility that ran the EMR integration themselves, without a dedicated IT person on site?

3. Your multi-site tier is listed as "custom." I'm at four locations right now with a fifth possible by Q4. Are we talking somewhere in the neighborhood of the Standard tier times four, or is this a different pricing model entirely?

## Verdict: curious-enough-to-reply

The methodology transparency claim and the falsifiable testimonial clear a bar that most of what hits my inbox does not clear. The liability gap on AI-generated clinical documentation is real and needs an answer, but I'd rather get that answer on a call than assume the worst.
