What firms ask before they start

Does CPA-AI work with my existing tax software?
Yes. CPA-AI connects to Drake Tax, Lacerte, UltraTax CS, and ProSystem fx via direct integration. Your existing client data imports in under 30 minutes. QuickBooks Online and Xero sync is available for bookkeeping workflows. If you use a platform not on this list, contact us -- we add integrations regularly based on firm demand.
What happens to client data and where is it stored?
All client data is encrypted at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.3). We are SOC 2 Type II certified and GLBA-compliant. Your data is never used to train AI models and is never shared with any third party. You retain full ownership of all client information and can export a complete archive at any time.
How does the document AI know what each file is?
CPA-AI uses a classification model trained on tax document structures. It reads file names, layout cues, and -- for PDFs -- optical character recognition to identify document type. Accuracy on common types (W-2, 1099, K-1, brokerage statements, property tax records) is above 96%. Unrecognized files are flagged for staff review rather than classified incorrectly.
Can I brand the client portal with my firm's identity?
Yes. The portal uses your firm's logo, colors, and domain (or a branded subdomain at no extra cost). Clients see your firm name throughout, not CPA-AI. The intake questionnaire copy, reminder message tone, and email footer are all configurable from the firm settings panel.
How long does the initial setup take?
