# Marcus Trevino, Director of Client Strategy at Groundswell Digital — read of Copywriting AI, May 11 2026

> 9 years running copy and paid media for a 14-person agency in Scottsdale. We do productized retainers for home services and local medical clients. I've onboarded and uninstalled probably six AI writing tools in the last two years.

## How I got here

Googled "AI tool landing page copy for agency clients" on a Tuesday morning between calls. We have a client launching a plumbing franchise and our copywriter is backed up through mid-June. I clicked the third organic result, which was not this page, but this showed up in the sidebar of a Reddit thread someone linked and I was already in a tab spiral. Landed here around 10:45 AM. I had nine minutes before a Zoom.

## What I clicked first

The headline "SHIP COPY FASTER" did nothing for me -- I've seen that exact promise on five different tools this quarter. What stopped my scroll was this line: "Stop waiting on copywriter turnarounds between tests." That's the actual pain. That's the Monday morning problem I have when a client wants an A/B test and my writer is three days out. I kept reading.

## Where I paused

The section with the Fermi math. "$-12,784 Year-1 take-home." I actually read that twice. I have never seen a product page voluntarily tell me the founder will probably lose money in year one. And then: "1 in 8 Meaningful-success odds." What is happening here. This is either the most disarming thing I've read on a product page or I have fundamentally misunderstood what this page is selling.

And then I realized: I don't actually know what this page is selling. It took me two full scrolls to understand that Wishdeal Studio is not offering me a copywriting tool to use. They're selling me the business plan to build one. The $29/$99 pricing I saw first is for a hypothetical product that doesn't exist yet. The real offer is $5 for a "dossier" and $99-$199 to "adopt the build." I am not the buyer they think they're talking to. Or maybe I am and I missed the pivot somewhere.

## What I distrusted

Two things.

First: the product name is "Copywriting AI." That's not a name, that's a category. It tells me nothing about positioning, differentiation, or who built this with any conviction. If you named your restaurant "Food Restaurant," I'd wonder what you're hiding.

Second: "Your product is great. Your copy probably isn't." That line exists on approximately 400 SaaS landing pages right now. It's the copywriting equivalent of a stock handshake photo. Whoever wrote this page knows better -- there's real craft in the Fermi disclosure section -- so the hero being so generic feels like a first draft that never got cut.

Also: "We don't get inbound any other way" under the share button. I respect the honesty but it's a strange thing to say mid-page. It broke my trust in the funnel a little, like the curtain moved.

## What would convince me

If I'm reading this as "tool to use for my agency": a before/after of an actual landing page. Not a testimonial. The raw text output for a real client, the variation that won, the lift. I want to see the thing working on something boring like a HVAC company in Tulsa. That's my client. Show me that page.

If I'm reading this as "business idea to buy and build": one operator who actually did it. One person who bought the dossier, built the thing, got to $5K MRR. Not a case study deck -- a name, a LinkedIn, a number I could verify.

## What I'd ask in an email reply

1. The Starter plan says "20 pages per month" -- what counts as a page? Is a landing page with 800 words one page? What if I regenerate the same page four times during a test cycle?
2. You say "AI tunes tone, personalizes context" in the email section -- personalizes based on what inputs exactly? What does the writer have to provide and what does the tool infer?
3. Is anyone actually using this right now, or is the $29/$99 pricing for a product you intend to build after someone buys the $5 dossier?

## Verdict: on-the-fence

The Fermi math and the honest disclosure are the most interesting things on this page -- they suggest someone with real judgment built this. But I spent four minutes unsure whether I was being sold a tool or a business plan, and that confusion would have killed the conversion if I had less patience. If the product is real and live, the page buries that. If it's not, the pricing table is misleading.
