# Ryan Okafor, Business Development Manager at Meridian Freight Partners (Memphis, TN) — read of AuthorityWatch, June 8, 2026

> 9 years in freight, last 4 running a 6-person BD team that prospects around 300-400 new carriers per month out of FMCSA data. We live and die by who gets to fresh authorities first.

## How I got here

Googled "new MC authority notification tool" after our intern spent three hours last Tuesday manually pulling new authority registrations from the FMCSA portal. I've tried Carrier411, FreightWaves SONAR alerts, and a couple of janky Zapier setups that break every few weeks. Saw this come up on page two. Clicked it because "Before Your Competition Sees Them" is the exact sentence I said out loud to my team last month.

## What I clicked first

That hero line got me: "New Trucking Authorities. Real-Time. Before Your Competition Sees Them." That is the pain. That is verbatim what I want. I looked for a "Try it Live result" button immediately and clicked it before reading anything else. Whatever it showed, it loaded fast and looked real. That kept me on the page.

## Where I paused

The adoptability score block. "$2,900 Year-1 take-home (Fermi)" and "1 in 5 Meaningful-success odds." I had to re-read the whole page to understand what I was actually looking at. This is not a tool I can buy. This is someone selling me the idea of building this tool. That realization took about 90 seconds and I felt genuinely confused because the hero copy is written 100% in the voice of a product for freight brokers, not a strategy package for builders. The page talks to two completely different people and never flags that it's doing it.

## What I distrusted

"We shipped the strategy package; you ship the customer conversations." I understand what that means and I respect that they said it plainly. But the 2/10 on financial upside is doing a lot of work. $2,900 year-1 on a real-time data alerting tool that taps FMCSA authority filings... that number is either the most honest thing on the page or a signal that whoever modeled it has never tried to price a B2B prospecting tool to brokerages. We pay $400/seat/month for tools with way less urgency than this. Something is off in the math and the page doesn't explain it.

Also: "Built by Wishdeal Studio" shows up in the footer AND as a section header AND in the product comparison grid. That repetition made me feel like I was being walked through a Shark Tank deck, not using a product.

## What would convince me

One real conversation with someone who bought the $99 Adopt tier and actually launched a version of this tool. Not a case study. A name, a LinkedIn, and one honest sentence about whether FMCSA's data actually refreshes fast enough to build real-time alerts on. That is the technical load-bearing question this page never touches. If the underlying data has a 24-48 hour lag (which FMCSA often does for some filings), "Real-Time" is a lie, and that is the first thing any freight person will ask.

## What I'd ask in an email reply

1. Where exactly does the authority data come from and what is the actual freshness lag? FMCSA, a third-party scraper, or something else?
2. If I build this with your $99 package and start selling to brokerages, what is your honest answer for why the $2,900 year-1 number is so low given what brokerages pay for prospecting tools today?
3. Is there anyone who has already built a version of this that I could talk to, even informally?

## Verdict: on-the-fence

The pain is real and I came here with money ready to spend on a tool, not an idea. If this page had a working product behind it I would have put in a credit card inside five minutes. As a business-idea package, I am interested but confused, and that confusion is the page's fault, not mine.
